Horseback riding is a healthful pastime that you're never too old to learn. Even the novice older rider will soon be at ease and pleased with the sense of personal accomplishment and satisfaction that comes from learning to care for and ride a horse.
Beginners both adult and children have a great ability to pick up some many skills in a fast period of time. Even if you feel you are going slowly, you’ll have plenty of time to learn what you need in order to feel comfortable and enjoy yourself. Safety is our number one priority at the South Shore Equestrian Center!
We have Horses to suit all abilities of rider. On arrival, we will match horse and rider.
They are well mannered and experienced and very surefooted. You will be given a horse which is safe and quiet in all respects.
Upon Your First Lesson:
You will learn the basics of horse care such as
Feeding
Handling
Brushing and Grooming
Riding: Walk, Trot and Canter
Jumping
Showing
Trail Riding
Lessons are 45 minutes to 1 hour in length. Lessons vary from ring riding, field riding and we try to incorporate trail riding into the lessons as well. Using these three locations to ride, you get a better overall feel of what riding really entails and this in turn makes you not only a good rider, but a great rider!
Practice rides are available at a reduced cost once you develop your standard skill set (3-4 weeks into riding). Please see our rates page for details.
